Good News Letter – Fall 2014

August 4, 2015 by Joe Engleson

What a beautiful day we had to enjoy our semi-annual meeting at the Rosemont Winery, and we had a good turnout.  It addition it was their “Harvest Festival” so we were able to stay and enjoy the wine, music and “grape stompin”.  We are so fortunate to have Rosemont so close to home.

Some exciting news from the meeting is that our boat ramp is going to be replaced!  This is a big job and must be done at just the right time……(must check with the fish!).  As a “heads-up” please note that our ramp will be closed during this repair.  Fortunately, we have the Holly Grove Marina right down the creek. We are also looking into giving the entrance area a “facelift”.  More good news…..(sorta) our dues have not increased in over 9 years!  YOUR boards, past and present, have worked really hard to stay on budget.  However, with these upcoming expenses, we need to have an increase in our budget, which will increase our dues to $230 per lot beginning in 2015. We know this doesn’t sound like “good news” but it is a very important investment in our neighborhood.  It is necessary that we keep our ramp safe for boater’s, and our roads in good condition for all.  If you know, or see, someone using the ramp that should not be using it, please stop and mention to them that this is a “Private Ramp” for use of Holly Grove Estates only.

And.. while we’re on the subject of safety, please drive slowly and be aware that there are many folks (doggies and deer too) that walk and run on our roads, and gravel can be hard to stop on.  There have been several complaints of a vehicle driving recklessly through the neighborhood. (A license number may be helpful). Please slow down, and help us keep Holly Grove Estates a fun and safe place to live!  Thanks

Isn’t it wonderful when we can open the windows and have a good night’s sleep!  I love this time of year.  However, it surely isn’t so great when your “alarm clock” is your neighbors’ dog early in the morning.  If you have a dog that loves to bark, please be considerate of your neighbors and don’t let them out too early in the morning.  Again, we thank you for being a good neighbor!

At the next General Membership Meeting, April 25th, we will have our annual elections.  One officer and two directors will be up for election.   If you would be interested in participating, or if you have any questions, please contact me: Peggy Donochod 636-2494, we’d love to hear from you.

We have lots of new neighbors to welcome to our wonderful community in this newsletter, and we are looking forward to meeting all of you!  We hope you’ll be at our next social (TBA), and come to our General Membership Meeting in April…….OH MY, HERE IS THE ANNOUNCEMENT ALREADY!!!!

MARK YOU CALENDAR!  December 13th,is the date, and 5 o’clock is the time (of course) for our ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY. This year we thank Barbara & Larry Harrell, 60 Brandon Ct. for inviting us to their lovely home. Don’t forget to bring along your favorite “beverage” and a yummy dish to share. What a wonderful way to kick off the Holidays. It’s a fun evening, we hope you’ll come.

Mark & Catherine Bridgers from Raleigh are the new owners of 131 Boyd Drive, and 211 Lakeview Drive is now owned by David & Diane Locascio of Lynchburg, VA and Scott & Karen Ludwigsen of Somerset, NJ.  We hope that you will all enjoy your lovely new homes, and our warm and friendly neighborhood.

Welcome to HOLLY GROVE ESTATES!

Have a great day!
