Oh my, this time of year this could be entitled “summer/fall/winter” depending on the day, but isn’t that one of the things that is so wonderful about having a home here at beautiful Lake Gaston!
Our Semi-annual General Membership Meeting was held at the Firehouse and John Zubrod shared information about all the many things that this firehouse does for our community, including CPR and Boating Safely Courses. This includes the ISO certification they have that saves you $$$ on your homeowners insurance. Remember, it is a volunteer fire department and they are very generous with their time to protect us, so please be generous with your donations and support for them. If you have any interest in helping out, in any way, please contact him.
The Semi-Annual meeting turnout was not exactly “standing room only”. We would like to see more members attending the meetings so we get to know you and you get to know us. The Annual Meeting in the Spring is a very important one, when we vote in our new Board members as well as any business at hand. The Fall meeting is more “informative” and is designed to keep our membership up to date on what’s happening and what the Board is currently working on, as well as taking hearing suggestions from our membership.
AS YOU CAN SEE… we’ve been working on the entrance!!!! Many thanks to the many hands that made this transformation possible: Jane Barker for starting this project; Judy & Frank Williams, especially for her perseverance as our beautification chairperson, Al Veeck & Dennis Hafey for all the lighting and electrical work, and the many helping hands of the Ezzell’s, Corbett’s, Marshall’s and Donochod’s. Please check the website and enjoy the pictures of the new entrance….www.hollygrovelg.com
Important information – On our website the minutes from the Annual Meeting of April 23, 2016 have been added under the “Minutes” tab- drop-down box Minutes of the Meeting. In the future we will be sending minutes of the Semi-annual and Annual meetings approximately two weeks in advance of the next meeting along with the notice of the meeting. Because the minutes are “draft” minutes until approved at the subsequent Association meeting, they will not be posted to the website until they are “approved”. If anyone desires an advanced copy of the minutes, please contact Al Veeck at mvainc1@gmail.com AND….We will continue to remind everyone of meetings and events with our signs at the Y intersection.
DID YOU KNOW????? That the Coast Guard Flotilla 93 will perform a free Vessel Safety Check on your boat at your home. The boat can be in a boatlift or on a trailer and does not need to be running. To receive a free safety check call John Dyckman at (252) 537-9877 or Tom Van Petten at (252) 586-5853.

HO, HO, HO……….IT’S PARTY TIME AGAIN!
Be sure to mark December 10th , 5 pm, on your calendar for our Annual Christmas Gathering. This year it will be held at the home of Peggy & Dan Donochod, 59 Lakeview Drive. To keep it easy, but yummy for all, we ask that you please bring along your best dish to share and your “adult beverage”. I hear there may just be a “best” sweater contest!hmmmmmmmmm So make it extra fun and “dig” out your “favorite, oldest, prettiest or weirdest” Christmas sweater this year! We do hope you’ll come and join us as we begin to celebrate this special Holiday season together.
The Holidays are a time that we reflect on the year past and begin looking forward into a New Year with new beginnings. We hope that you will consider being a part of the Board and volunteer for a position next year. Due to some family issues we have lost two Directors off the Board in addition to the three that will rotate off in July. The election is held at the Spring General Membership Meeting, but the terms don’t begin until July. For additional information, please contact Peggy Donochod at pdono@bitbroadband.com. Board meetings are held quarterly on a Sat. morning for an hour +, and we have two General Membership Meetings, which we appreciate you attending, if at all possible. Many issues can be dealt with via e-mail if something comes up. Most of our Board members have been, or are, weekenders and they have always served us well! It’s very rewarding to participate in our wonderful community and you can help make it even better. Thank you!
Peggy Donochod & your Board of Directors
