September 2013
We do hope that everyone is having a wonderful summer, although it may have been be a bit wet. Important news for you, we have a web site now, and we will be posting the Good News Letter and other communications, including dates for the year so please check it out! https://www.hollygrovelg.com (password for the Homeowners tab is grove). Eventually we would like to be able to eliminate post office mailings.
Please let either Peggy Donochod or Faye Harris know if your information is correct and we would like to have e-mail addresses for everyone. This year with the fluctuating water levels, it’s important to be able to contact everyone quickly.
If you weren’t at the GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING in April, I’d like to announce new Board of Directors:
Ray Marshall (Pres 1 yr), Alan Veeck (Treas. 2 yrs) Faye Harris (Sect. 3 yrs); Directors: Jane Barker (2 yrs); Gary Shore (3 yrs); Carol Haefner (1 yr); Bill Biddle (2 yrs); Sally Cline (3 yrs) and Peggy Donochod (1 yr). Three positions will be open each election, please consider becoming involved in YOUR neighborhood and contact Peggy Donochod.
In August Lanco will be resurfacing a large section of our roads: Holly Grove Lane to the Y and down Dogwood Lane. Please be careful especially when the new gravel is applied.
The Neighborhood Yard Sale was a hit especially for those who participated. We hope to do this annually in the Spring. What a nice way to make a little extra $ especially when you don’t even have to “leave home” and you can close-up when you’re ready!
Again, we want to remind you that we may love OUR pets but we may not love YOURS. Please be considerate of your neighbors. If you have a problem the best solution is to speak with your neighbor, certainly before calling Animal Control. Let’s all “do unto others”……
REMINDERS!!!! Thanks to the Lake Gaston Water Safely Council we now have a sign posted at the boat ramp reminding everyone that if you let an unlicensed driver drive your vessel, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE! There is also a number you can call to report unsafe boaters, check it out!
ALSO….the water is for everyone but docks are private property – but we ARE all friendly – so just ask if you need to use your neighbors dock from time to time. And….remember to always put things back just as you found them.
LOOKING AHEAD…The Semi-Annual General Membership Meeting will be held on Oct. 12th at Rosemont Winery at 10 a.m. Don’t miss out on what comes next……at 1 p.m. we will have another PIG PICKIN’. Our heartfelt thanks to Ron & Sue Strickland for cooking this delicious meal and great hush puppies. Please let Carol Haefner know by Oct. 1st. how many will be coming with you, so we can be sure there will be enough delicious “MR. PIGGY” (grannynanny@bit.coop ) 434-636-2583. Please let Carol know what favorite dish you will be bringing to share. Again, we will gather in Section A Cul-de-Sac. And, don’t forget your lawn chairs! We really hope you will plan on coming and spend a great day with your friends and neighbors. Beer and wine will be provided.
AND REALLY LOOKING AHEAD………”SAVE THIS DATE” : DECEMBER 7TH for our neighborhood Christmas gathering ! Once again our wonderful friends, Al & Nancy Veeck have offered to host this event at their lovely home. What a wonderful way to begin the Holidays! We hope you’ll join us. More details to come so do check the web site.
